EMERGENCY CLAUSE ADOPTED 11-3-25 ORDINANCE NO. 9324 Passed November 3, 2025 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPROPRIATE $50,000 FOR EMERGENCY FOOD SERVICES FOR CITY OF BOWLING GREEN RESIDENTS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, the City of Bowling Green has an obligation to provide for the public peace, heath, safety, and welfare of its residents; and WHEREAS, food insecurity is a significant public health issue impacting residents, especially those with limited income, and WHEREAS, the Bowling Green City Council determines that directing funds to provide such services is a cost- effective and efficient way to address food insecurity and WHEREAS, the immediate need for food assistance requires that this ordinance take effect immediately as an emergency measure. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO THAT: SECTION 1: The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement a program for the distribution of funding of an amount not to exceed $50,000 to organizations in Bowling Green, Ohio to fight hunger, including. but not limited to: Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry, Brown Bag Food Project, St. Aloysius Food Pantry, St. Thomas Moore Food Pantry, Falcon Food Pantry. SECTION 2. Funding Appropriation. A sum not to exceed $50,000 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund, for the purpose of directing funds to address food insecurity. The City Finance Director is authorized to issue payments not to exceed $50,000. SECTION 3: Compliance and Indemnification. Funding recipients shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations concerning its operations, including health and safety standards for food handling SECTION 4: Emergency Clause. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety of the city's residents. Therefore, this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
