ORDINANCE NO. 9326 Passed December 15, 2025 ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR THE PROMOTION AND PUBLICIZING OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO, TO BRING THE PATRONAGE AND BUSINESS OF CULTURAL, EDUCATIONAL, RELIGIOUS, PROFESSIONAL AND SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS INTO THE CITY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE CITIZENS OF THE CITY AND THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS, the Council of the city of Bowling Green, Ohio, on the 19th day of May, 1980, adopted Ordinance No. 3606 whereby the city imposed a transient occupancy (hotel-motel) tax, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, and the citizens thereof that Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce promote and publicize the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, for the purpose of bringing the patronage and business of various organizations into the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, for the benefit of the citizens thereof, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bowling Green, Ohio sets the rate for the hotel-motel tax for the City in Chapter 101 of the Codified Ordinances and has determined that the rate be 4% and, WHEREAS, Council deems it appropriate that the contract stipulate that 60% of the first 3% of the tax and 100% of the remaining 1% of the tax revenues generated from the transient occupancy (hotel-motel) tax be designated for the promotion and publicizing purposes described herein. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO THAT: SECTION 1: That it is necessary to contract for professional services for the purpose of being the patronage and business of various organizations into the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, for the benefit of the citizens thereof. SECTION 2: That the Municipal Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to enter into contract with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part thereof, for the purposes of retaining the services of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce for the promotion and publicizing of the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, for the further purpose of bringing the patronage and business of cultural, educational, religious, professional and sports organizations into the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, for the benefit of the citizens of the City of Bowling Green, Ohio, and the business community thereof. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect as an emergency measure in order to allow for the contract to be executed and promotion of the City to commence by January 1, 2026 for the betterment of the community, thereby protecting the public health, safety and well-being of our citizens.
