Resolution No. 3909 Passed July 6, 2026 RESOLUTION DECLARING IT NECESSARY TO RENEW WITH AN INCREASE AN EXISTING TAX FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDS FOR PARKS AND RECREATION PURPOSES AND REQUESTING THE WOOD COUNTY AUDITOR TO CERTIFY THE TOTAL CURRENT TAX VALUATION OF THE CITY AND THE DOLLAR AMOUNT OF REVENUE THAT WOULD BE GENERATED BY THE LEVY, AND DECLARING THE NECESSARY OF A LEVY IN EXCESS OF THE MAXIMUM RATE AUTHORIZED BY LAW WITHOUT A VOTE OF THE ELECTORS OF 2.95 MILS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO THAT: SECTION 1: The amount of taxes that may be raised by the levy of taxes at the maximum rate authorized by Revised Code Section 5705.02 on the taxable property of the City of Bowling Green will be insufficient to provide and adequate amount for the necessary requirements of said City in that it is necessary that the levy of 2.0 mils be renewed with an increase to provide for parks and recreation purposes over five (5) years at that rate in excess of such maximum rate authorized by said revised code section. SECTION 2: It is necessary to renew with an increase, for a period of five (5) years, all of the existing 2.0 mils property tax outside the 10 mil limitation and an increase of .95 mil for the benefit of the City of Bowling Green for the purpose of providing funds for recreational purposes of Bowling Green City Parks and Recreation. SECTION 3: Council hereby request that the Wood County Auditor certify to it the total current tax valuation of the City and the dollar amount of revenue that would be generated by the 2.95 mil renewal with an increase levy specified herein. SECTION 4: The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to deliver to the Wood County Auditor a certified copy of this Resolution. SECTION 5: The Clerk of Council is hereby directed to certify a copy of this Resolution to the Board of Elections of Wood County, Ohio, in order that said Board of Elections may make the necessary arrangements for the submission of such question to the electors of the City as provided by law, at the general election to be held on the first Tuesday of November 2026. SECTION 6 : This resolution shall take effect at the earliest time permitted by law.
